Constituents
The thread-like rhizomes contain isoquinoline alkaloids, mainly berberine and coptisine.
Use and indications
Coptis species are used widely in Chinese medicine for infections, especially of the digestive tract, and for similar reasons as bloodroot6 and berberis1.
